Spiritual Exercises in Cervera (Holy Week 2026)

Cervera hosts Spiritual Exercises marked by silence, Easter, and a return to the roots

From March 28 to April 5, the Novitiate House and General Curia in Cervera became a privileged place of encounter with God for a group of 22 sisters, who took part in an intense experience of Spiritual Exercises.

The retreat was led by the priest from Tarragona, Jordi Díez Moix, who guided the participants through a journey deeply inspired by Ignatian spirituality. These were days lived in an atmosphere of silence, interiority, and discernment, fostering attentive listening to the Word and personal renewal.

One of the most significant aspects of these days was their coincidence with the celebration of the Easter Triduum, which allowed the sisters to enter more deeply into the central mystery of the Christian faith. The meditations on the Lord’s Supper, the Passion, and the Resurrection shaped the spiritual rhythm of the retreat, helping to integrate personal experience with the Church’s liturgical life.

Likewise, the stay in Cervera provided an opportunity to reconnect with the congregation’s roots, in a setting of special significance as it houses the remains of the Founding Mother. This close contact with the history and founding charism was lived with gratitude and as a source of vocational renewal.

The retreat concluded with the solemn celebration of the Easter Vigil, which continued past midnight on April 4. After the liturgy, the sisters shared a fraternal moment in the community dining room, thus bringing to a close a particularly meaningful day.

The morning of April 5 began with the praying of Lauds, together with the celebration of the Eucharist, after which the participants began their return to their respective communities, carrying with them the spiritual richness experienced during these days.

An experience of grace that will undoubtedly continue to bear fruit in the personal and community life of each of the sisters.
