Bridges on the Way: a diocesan day to walk, share, and celebrate

At the Corazón de María School in Palencia, alongside our educational ministry — including the Early Childhood Education Center — we also continue to collaborate closely with the parish in catechesis, supporting young people in their preparation for both First Communion and Confirmation. It is a simple, steady, and very personal accompaniment, where faith is also learned in community, step by step.

Diocesan gathering of teens and young people

On February 28, 2026, we shared a particularly meaningful experience: the Diocese held a gathering for teenage and youth groups under the theme “Bridges on the Way.” More than 225 teens and young people took part, accompanied by 20 leaders — lay people, priests, and religious — coming from different parts of the province.

A stretch of the Camino de Santiago: from Villalcázar de Sirga to Carrión de los Condes

The day began with a walk from Villalcázar de Sirga to Carrión de los Condes, along a section of the Camino de Santiago, in an atmosphere of reflection and friendship. Walking together, listening, sharing silence and conversation… it already became a first “bridge,” connecting different realities and hearts eager to grow.

After the walk, participants gathered in small groups to explore different topics, creating space to share questions, go deeper, and strengthen faith in language close to young people.

Eucharist, shared meal, and joyful community time

The gathering concluded with the Eucharist, the heart and high point of the day, followed by a shared meal and group games and activities, filling the atmosphere with joy. Because faith is also celebrated this way: with simplicity, fraternity, and shared life.

On this occasion, Sister Lizbeth attended as a Confirmation catechist from the Parish of San Telmo, accompanying the teenagers on this path of growth and commitment.

We give thanks for this day and for so many young people who continue to seek meaning, community, and hope. May we keep building “bridges on the way,” wherever life leads us.
