Who we are
The Congregation of the Missionary Daughters of the Heart of Mary was founded on 14 September 1899 at the Hospital of Cervera (Lleida), inspired by Mother María Güell y Puig.
Since then, we have journeyed as a religious family in the Church, guided by the Holy Spirit and sustained by love for the Heart of Jesus and the Heart of Mary.
As consecrated women, we seek the glory of God, our own sanctification, and the good of every person, uniting prayer and life, community and mission.
Our charism
The charism inherited from our Foundress and recognized by the Church is to follow Christ through the path of the evangelical counsels, living the Gospel in the practice of charity with simplicity and humility, in the light and example of the Virgin Mary.
Our mission
Our mission is the apostolic practice of charity in its various expressions and a loving response to the needs of the present moment in the Church and in the world.
We live this with special closeness to those who suffer, especially in the care of the sick and in the ministry of education.
How we live it
- Welcoming with tenderness those who suffer
- Accompanying others with closeness and discretion
- Serving with joy and generous dedication
- Caring faithfully for the little things of daily life
- Bearing witness to hope through a simple way of life
In the light of Mary
We look to Mary as our model: simple and humble of heart. With her, we learn to listen to the Word, to live with trusting openness, and to make charity a way of life.
