WHO WE ARE
WHO WE ARE
The Missionary Daughters of the Heart of Mary were founded on 14 September 1899 at the Hospital of Cervera (Lleida), inspired by Mother María Güell y Puig. Since then, our religious family has continued its journey together, guided by the Holy Spirit and sustained by love for the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
Our mission comes from a deep call: to seek God’s glory, grow in holiness, and serve the salvation and well-being of others, offering ourselves with faithfulness and humble service wherever the Church needs us most.
Our charism
The charism Mother Güell passed on to the Institute—and which the Church recognises—is to follow Christ through the evangelical counsels. We live it with simplicity, humility and a spirit of charity, in every gesture, every word, and every mission entrusted to us.
How we live it
- Welcoming those who suffer with tenderness,
- Staying close and walking alongside people,
- Serving with joy,
- Offering our lives day by day,
- Being witnesses of hope.
In Mary’s light
The Virgin Mary—simple and humble of heart—is our model, guide and inspiration. In her we learn wholehearted self-giving, attentive listening, trusting availability, and charity lived in concrete ways.
